CHILDREN'S PHOTOGRAPHY
For me children’s photography is about watching things happen rather than making them happen. It’s more about observing children being themselves, interacting with their family and less about making them act for the camera. When I struggled to find a photographer who could capture my son ‘just being himself’ I decided to take on the role, the results began to fill my home, visitors would ask “who took those photos?” and on discovering it was me, would ask if I’d come and do the same of their children for them…and Heather Holden Photography was born! When working with children, it’s really important to me to capture a bit of who they are and not just what they look like. It’s always a real privilege for me to work with children at home in their own environments and join in their world for an hour or so.
A bit about my style...
Relaxed
Being a photographer is not all about what cameras and kit you have, it's more to do with how you make people feel. Happy, relaxed people make for much better photos!
Non-posed
My aim is always the same every single photo shoot I go on...to take photos that are real, honest and capture character and emotion. I absolutely love working with children mainly because they are who they are, no filters, no social etiquette, what you see is what you get!
Just being me!
Quite often when I arrive on a photo shoot, parents will say to me...I'm not sure the children will sit still or follow instructions very well, to which I always say...BRILLIANT!! I love it when children just do their own thing and are totally themselves despite the camera, these are genuinely the type of photos I strive for.
